Art, culture and education — a digital-first revival of African contemporary art

Africana Art Foundation

Before the strategic execution phase, the initial project outlines were provided by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), laying the foundation for Africana’s structural vision and its global potential.
Africana Art Foundation is a non-profit based in Geneva, Switzerland, focused on supporting African and diaspora contemporary art. Despite a clear vision — supporting new talent, raising awareness, and building platforms — the foundation launched in early 2020 and was quickly impacted by the pandemic, with its in-person agenda disrupted.
With limited digital presence and a strong dependency on exhibitions and physical events, Africana needed to adapt and thrive in a new digital-first world. As the strategic consultancy partner, Full House Partners designed a comprehensive sustainability, monetization and communications plan — and OFF-SUIT was entrusted with its implementation.

Our Role

As the appointed creative agency for Full House Partners’ strategic projects, OFF-SUIT translated the strategic plan into an actionable and engaging digital ecosystem. The aim: build brand awareness, community and long-term sustainability through compelling content and digital infrastructure.

Deliverables included:

  • Website Development – Full website build, from strategy to UX/UI, featuring artist profiles, virtual exhibitions, donation mechanisms, and content series hubs.
  • Content Production – Over 80 original videos produced across multiple series including: Tigers Are Not From Africa (video podcasts), Atelier Series (artist studio visits), On the Run (art destination guides), Curator 2 Curator, People Worth Knowing, and educational formats like Explained and Art Attack.
  • Cross-Production & Social Media Management – Implementation of a scalable content model capturing assets from each production, with a consistent publishing rhythm across Instagram, YouTube, and newsletters.
  • Fundraising Activation – Creation of donation flows via embedded website forms, QR code integration on catalogs and exhibitions, and exclusive membership tiers with gated content.
  • Sponsorship Program – Strategic proposal for multi-tier brand sponsorships, integrated across video, social and print (including the launch of an annual print magazine).

  • Event Content Coverage – Digital documentation of Africana’s participation in global events like São Paulo Biennial and WTO Ministerial Conference (Geneva), including virtual exhibitions and behind-the-scenes narratives.

Impact

The implementation led to a 150% increase in donations, improved public perception and institutional credibility, and participation in high-profile international events. Africana became a reference in the space of African contemporary art, building the digital foundation needed for long-term relevance, scale and sustainability.

"I’m in love with the round window, the transparency of the ceiling, and the smell of wood and paint that’s always present. The space inspires me everyday."
